Our Story

NGU Counseling is a telehealth practice that began in 2013. NGU Counseling has become a private practice with a special emphasis on the needs of women, minority needs, and underserved populations. Over the years NGU Counseling has become a vibrant practice that services multiple clients each day.

However, things have only become even more lively as a new counselor has joined the fray. NGU Counseling, once a party of one, has now become a party of two. Now, NGU Counseling will not only provide mental health counseling, but will now incorporate vocational rehabilitation counseling as of May 2025. With the addition of new services, NGU Counseling is only going to help more people through their journey's in life.

About

Vocational Rehabilitation and Associate Counselor

Ayctivia CRC, LAC

After recently acquiring her Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) credential, Ayctivia has become the newest member of the NGU team. Ayctivia got her start while completing her Bachelor's in Child Development and Psychology with a minor in Special Education. Ayctivia has worked in a wide variety of settings including with high schoolers, adults, and those with disabilities. While teaching those with disabilities, Ayctivia realized for serving individuals with disabilities and assisting them in their journey for suitable employment. Notably, this passion was only further stirred by her own personal struggles with her disability-a visual impairment due to Albinism. Thus, she decided to pursue that a master's in Rehabilitation Counseling from George Washington University. Upon graduating with her master's, she acquired her Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and and Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) credentials. After working as a vocational rehabilitation counselor, she is focusing on pursuing her true passion of vocational rehabilitation and counseling. She wants to bring a new perspective on the variety of counseling services that can be provided for individuals with varying disabilities in the counseling practice world. Aside from general therapy, she specializes in Disability-focused and Career-focused Adjustment Therapy. Her modalities include Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavior Therapy. When she is not working, she enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, and learning how to cook new recipes.
